I made these for a party this weekend as little desserts, and not only did they all get gobbled up, I couldn’t give the recipe out fast enough!
This recipe is courtesy of Favao.com. It’s worth checking out their blog for excellent weight loss and healthy lifestyle tips. I’m a huge fan of their Fiber and Metabolic supplements (click the “It Takes 2 to Xango” link at right for more info on those items). I use the Fiber in my green smoothie every morning, and the Metabolic helps me stay “on points” when I’m working off a few pounds.
So, the famous Energy Bars! Here’s the deal: they are super yummy, reminiscent of a Reese’s cup. They start with a peanut butter flavor then finish with chocolate. The recipe calls for hand mixing, but friends have told me that they used their food processor in order get a smoother, more kid-friendly texture.
Energy Bars Recipe
1 cup oats
1/3 cup FAVAO protein powder
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
2 TB ground flaxseed
Mix all ingredients together. Shape into bars or roll into balls. The recipe calls for 5 portions at a cost of 320 calories each. I cut the size (5 would make really big servings) made about 10 to cut the calories. If you’re like me and prefer to see multiple “cookies,” split the recipe again and make 20 smaller servings for a measly 16 calories each. 3 of them would then equal 1 WW PP+.
This recipe freezes beautifully, and you can get creative, adding in carob chips, cocao nibs, coconut flakes, dried fruit, etc. BTW, I used Designer Whey chocolate protein powder because that’s what I had on hand.
